If you are looking for a good return on your investment in your puppy's future then you have come to the right place'
Our puppy school has been running in Bury for over 12 years now, it is presented in a friendly and professional manner, it is very popular and spaces are limited.
WaggaWuffins Canine College runs the Puppy Problem Prevention Program which is written by behaviourist and trainer Jane Ardern BSc (Hons) and run by Helen Coogan who is an Approved Dog Training Instructor, and is qualified to teach people and train dogs. The course is 6 weeks long and limited to 6 puppies. It teaches the important lifeskills required for your puppy to become a well adjusted member of your family. Focusing on teaching manners, self control, listening skills and patience. The course also includes access to online tutorials throughout the course where you can go online through the week and recap on all you have learnt in your lesson with step by step videos and printable handouts.
Puppies can start this class as soon as vaccinations are complete and the vet says they can mix with other dogs, this is around 11/12 weeks old and we take puppies up to 19 weeks old.
The course structured over 6 weeks where you learn something new each week. The course is specifically designed for all breeds in their socialisation development stage.
The aims are to teach manners, basic training, bite inhibition and socialisation with people, and other dogs. We also include handling for examination (which will make visits to the vet less stressful for all) and grooming.
The training exercises cover getting your puppy to listen and focus on you while there are distractions, walk nicely at your side and not pull on the lead, not to jump up, come back when called, off lead control and connection, leave it, sit, stand, down, stays.
They are taught how to settle and be calm, polite and wait patiently We also have a fun week where we teach the puppies to interact with strange and novel objects including the agility tunnel, learning skills which build confidence, self awareness and co ordination such as on, under, over, round and through on our puppy parkour course.
We have Kennel Club Listed Status from Puppy to Gold and you can work towards the Official Kennel Club Puppy Foundation Award Gaining a Rosette and Certificate at the end of the Course
Our methods are very hands off and positive, which means no yanking or jerking and we show you how to use food effectively as rewards and not bribes.
We encourage all the family (including children) to attend the classes and get involved, refreshments are provided and the training environment is fun, friendly and relaxed.
You can begin as soon as your vet says it's safe for your puppy to go out (usually 2 weeks after last vaccinations).
